Caprese Salad

A classic yet simple and fresh Italian salad to serve as an appetizer with your Italian meals.


SERVES: 4


INGREDIENTS

  • 2 medium sized tomatoes

  • 250g fresh mozzarella cheese

  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves

  • Salt to sprinkle

  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar (Make this by boiling balsamic vinegar and reducing it to half to thicken the glaze.)


Method

  1. Slice tomatoes and mozzarella cheese and arrange on a platter in alternative pattern.

  2. Insert a basil leaf with each tomato mozzarella set.

  3. Sprinkle salt, pepper and oregano over the salad.

  4. Drizzle olive oil and the balsamic and glaze all over the salad.

  5. Serve immediately.
